Lenny Power, 15, has made his way into the coveted Cricket NSW Youth Academy (Riverina Zone) list, joining other up-and-coming talents to learn from some of the best coaches in the field and go up against sides from across the state.
Already a formidable fielder and batter, the Barooga teen said he was looking forward to developing his skills across the board.
“I’m very happy, definitely,” Power said.
There’s a handful of idols Power admires, such as the likes of Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Starc.
It comes off the back of a huge year for Power, who cemented his place in the Cobram A-grade side in the 2024/25 season under the tutelage of his father and co-coach Will Power and Lachlan Hyde.
“I’ve had Dad coaching me for a long time now, so I’m pretty used to him yelling at me,” Power said, laughing.
“And Lachie (Lachlan Hyde), it was good to have him coach this year, especially as he’s a bit younger as well.”
It’s also not the first time the teen talent has stepped into a representative side for his native Murray/Riverina district.
In 2024/25, Power managed to top-score with the bat (29 from 22 balls faced) during his Murray under-15 Southern side’s two-wicket win over South East Storm in the Cricket Albury-Wodonga NSW Youth Championships.
