In a sign of ongoing stability and energy at the club, midfielder Tyron Baden has committed to the Tigers for another season.
Cobram FNC president Matt Demaio said there was huge excitement around the club after news broke of Baden’s signing at last Thursday’s training.
“It’s huge for us,” Demaio said.
“Obviously, it helps us not only keep our talented list together, but it helps us recruit as well, and trying to get those few missing pieces that we’ve still got.”
With stats as stimulating for the salivary glands as Baden’s, it’s a small wonder the Tigers are getting up and about.
Since joining Cobram from the Northern Territory’s Palmerston Magpies in 2015, the five-time club best-and-fairest has racked up a glimmering 226 goals across 122 games.
He has cemented his position as a key role-player in the black and yellow, notching 25 goals from 14 games this season, in a sign that he’s not letting up any time soon.
“When players hear Tyron is at the club, they want to play with him,” Demaio said.
“Whenever we’re in strife, and need someone to step up, it’s always him.
“He’s a player you build a team around, if you know what I mean. Other people stay because he’s committed. He’s got his family around the club, his niece and nephew, his young family.”
It comes as brothers Lucas and Bailey Roberts also sign on at the Tigers’ den for next year’s campaign.
“Lucas has had a great year, playing in the midfield,” Demaio said.
“Bailey has been overseas, in Europe, and he’s come back in red-hot form and should be one to watch heading into finals.”
Bailey Roberts has joined his brother, Lucas Roberts, for another year at Cobram.
