Bowls season is just around the corner — with less than a month until the hopeful start date for action in the Goulburn Murray Bowls Region.
As reported earlier this year, the Murray Playing Area's top weekend pennant division will move to a 12-a-side competition this summer.
Recently, the clubs set to tackle this top division — as well as those submitting teams in the other sections of the playing area — have been locked in.
Barooga, Cobram, Finley, Numurkah, Numurkah Golf, Strathmerton, Tocumwal Golf and Wunghnu will tackle the highest level of Saturday Murray bowls.
The eight teams will play each other twice across a 14-round season.
Division two weekend pennant will be split into two sections of six teams apiece.
The competition will have 16 rounds, which includes each separate section playing its own teams twice and crossing over once each against the other section.
The top two teams in each section will then compete in finals.
Section one will be comprised of Berrigan, Cobram, Finley, Jerilderie, Numurkah Golf and Picola.
Barooga, Katandra West, Nathalia, Numurkah, Tocumwal Golf and Wunghnu will play in section two.
Division three (eight teams) and division four (nine teams) weekend pennant will play 14 rounds.
Barooga, Berrigan, Cobram, Finley, Katandra West, Numurkah, Tocumwal Golf and Wunghnu have sides in division three.
In division four, Cobram will play with two teams alongside Barooga, Finley, Numurkah, Numurkah Golf, Picola and Strathmerton.
Midweek pennant — which is played on a Friday in the Murray Playing Area — will have two divisions of eight teams, playing 14 rounds of action before finals.
Barooga, Cobram, Finley, Numurkah, Numurkah Golf, Picola, Tocumwal Golf 1 and Tocumwal Golf 2 will play in division one.
Barooga, Berrigan, Cobram, Katandra West, Nathalia, Numurkah, Numurkah Golf and Tocumwal Golf will compete in division two.
The current schedule for the beginning of bowls in the region has the Goulburn Valley Playing Area starting on October 26 (midweek) and 30 (weekend) and the Murray Playing Area on October 29 and 30.
