The remaining local hope in the Campaspe Playing Area weekend pennant saw its season ended at the preliminary final stage.

Lockington upset the more favoured Echuca in the elimination semi-final last week, but couldn’t repeat the feat against Moama Green on Saturday, eliminated 14-68 to 2-52 at Echuca Bowls Club.

Steve Pavone kept Lockington in the contest with a 30-12 win in his rink, working well with teammates William Musgrove (lead), Stephen Peter (second) and James Harris (third).

However, Green proved too strong in the remaining rinks, Roy Jackson skipping a 22-14 win for the Steamers, while Sue Holmes was even more dominant, scoring a 34-8 result.

Moama Green will face clubmate Moama Black for the title.

While there are no locals remaining across the divisions, the weekend pennant grand finals will be held at Lockington Bowls Club from 1.30pm on Saturday, March 1.

There was no midweek pennant action on February 18 as the league went on hiatus due to the Bowls Premier League, held at Moama Bowling Club.
