A number of local cricketing talents were recognised at the 2025-26 Murray Valley Cricket Association awards evening recently, held prior to the grand final weekend, taking out top gongs following brilliant seasons with both bat and ball.

Cobram and Barooga featured heavily among the A-grade awards, with the Tigers’ Adam De Cicco winning both the batting and bowling average awards, while Hawks skipper Riyaad Henry took out the Guthrie Medal as best and fairest, as well as the MVP, following a stellar season.
Cobram president Manny Artavilla was named joint Gemmill Medallist as B-grade best and fairest alongside Berrigan’s Matthew Ross, taking out the batting average award too, while another Cobram player in Chase Hardwidge claimed the bowling average gong, and Strathmerton’s Jacob Atkin nabbed the bowling average award in C-grade.
The junior awards were again dominated by locals, with Barooga’s Ethan Bovalina winning the under-17 L&P Hocking Shield as best and fairest, with Riley Thompson (Cobram-Katamatite) named MVP, while Bayden Hutchins (Nathalia) and Bodey Webb (Cobram-Katamatite) took out the batting and bowling awards, respectively.
In the under-15s awards it was Barooga’s Kohen Haddrell that swept the accolades, winning the best and fairest, MVP and both the batting average and aggregate awards following a brilliant season.
