On Thursday, April 16, Lyon will run a host of events, including a business leaders round table breakfast, student leaders summit, junior cricket and sports clinic and an evening forum for parents, players and clubs.
Apart from the cricket clinic, which will take place at the Echuca East Community Facility, all events will be held at Moama Bowling Club.
Students, aspiring leaders, young athletes, parents, sporting clubs and business owners are encouraged to attend the events and there is an additional perk for attendees, who will receive a free membership that provides ongoing access to leadership and mindset content on Lyon’s GOATD platform.
Leadership and professional development is a theme of the tour, with Lyon currently mentoring young cricketers through GOATD, and he will share advice about these areas at the round table alongside his renowned leadership coach David Stewart.
At the student summit, those who attend will receive a personal leadership play book, while the evening forum allows those involved in the sport to hear more about the role parents, carers and clubs play in nurturing the next generation of cricketers.
There will also be opportunities for photos and autographs with Lyon at each event.
Lyon, who became Australia’s second-highest Test wicket-taker of all-time last year, said the tour was an opportunity for him to give back to local cricketing communities.
“Cricket has provided so many great experiences on and off the field and all around the world and I’ve been fortunate to enjoy a long career in the game I love,” Lyon said.
“I’ve learned and grown so much during this time and I’m really keen to share that with the next generation.
“I was lucky enough to grow up in the regional town of Young and play my first cricket there, so I know how important it is to bring sporting development opportunities to rural and regional locations and appreciate the passion there is for cricket in these areas.”
