In what was the final round prior to the Christmas Break the Kyabram Lawn Tennis Club were looking to wrap up a successful 2025 with some strong results!

GM2 Kyabram Bombers 9-74d KPOS Colonels 2-34
In GM2 the Bombers were looking to finish the year strong and lock down a place towards the top of the Ladder.
For the Bombers it was the two number one players that led from the front! Rhiann Eddy was the star performer on the day only conceding two games for the day.
Eddy dominated her singles match up to win another 6-0 victory; this was then followed up with an 8-1 victory with last season Club Champion Rebekah Lawson.
Eddy finished her day with another dominant victory with Regan More 8-1.
More was the other standout on the day only conceding one more game than Eddy.
More also started his day with a 6-0 victory in his singles.
More also won a strong 8-2 victory in the men’s Doubles.
In the end the Bombers were able to overwhelm the bottom of the ladder Colonels.
The victory secures the Bombers 2 nd on the ladder going into the Christmas Break.
GM3 Kyabram Redbacks 5-58 d Euroa Rancho Rulers 4-43
The Redbacks came into this round as one of the hottest teams in the competition having won six matches in a row when the hosted a tricky Euroa side.
The match up was close throughout the day.
However, the Redbacks managed to secure multiple one-sided set victories to break the game open.
The most impressive of which was a resounding 8-0 victory for the pairing of Darren Woodcock and Brendon McConnell.
McConnell followed this victory up with another strong 8-3 result with son Sam McConnell.
In what was a family affair in the ladies Justine McConnell also performed well combining with Marg Haw for a strong 8-2 victory and then also combined with son Sam for a strong 8-1 victory.
Justine McConnell was the only player on the day to secure a perfect day combining with Susie Bennett for a hard fought 8-5 victory.
Despite the sets being close on the day the several dominant victories meant that the Redbacks were able to continue their hot start to the season with a 15-game victory.
The Redbacks sit third on the Ladder with match ups against the second placed Karramomus and first placed Kyabram Bombers coming up in the new year.
GM3 Kyabram Bombers 7-64 d Euroa Dead Certs 3-44
The top of the table Bombers made the road trip to Euroa to take on the fifth place Dead Certs hoping to continue their undefeated start to the season going.
The standout again on the day was Evan Cooknell.
Cooknell who has had a breakout season for the Bombers only conceded three games for the day.
Cooknell started the day with an impressive 6-0 victory in the number one men’s singles.
Cooknell followed this up with a strong 8-2 victory with club stalwart Greg Tarrant.
Cooknell then rounded out his day with another dominant 8-1 victory with Helen Jackson in the number one mixed double.
Taylor Sutton was the other player that had a perfect day combining with Marissa Hooper and Helen Jackson for a pair of 8-3 and 8-4 victories, respectively.
Sutton then rounded out her perfect day combining with Ben Dickens for a hard fought 8-6 victory against an experienced pair.
In the end the Bombers were able to win the final three Mixed Doubles sets to blow the lead out to twenty games in what was a tight contest all day.
The win secures the Bombers top of the ladder on their own prior to the Christmas break.
Kyabram Bombers 6-57 d Tatura Rommels 3-53
The Bombers came into the final round of the season with a challenge ahead of them only having one player from their usual team available for the match up.
However, the team made up of mostly players from the midweek Twilight competition were ready to put up a fight.
The standout on the day was fill in Steven Phillips.
Phillips won all three of his sets combining with team captain Michael Argaet for an 8-5 victory, then following this up with a hard fought 8-6 victory with Lily Holden.
Phillips then rounded out his perfect day combining with Tony Hetherington for the most dominant set of the day 8-1.
Tony Hetherington was also perfect on the day combining with Michael Argaet for a hard fought 8-6 victory, then combining with Julie Holden for a nail biting 8-7 victory.
After 8 sets the match was also square on games and sets with the final match still being played.
However, the mother daughter combination of Julie and Lily Holden were able to stand up to the pressure securing an 8-4 victory and four game win for the Bombers.
The improbable victory for the Bombers will be a huge boost for the team that sits third on the ladder going into the break.
GM4 Open Tatura Twisters 9-72 d Kyabram Redbacks 0-23
The Redbacks faced a daunting task in the last round of the year taking on ladder leaders the Tatura Twisters who had only lost a total of nine sets for the entirety of the season to date.
In the end the challenge was too much for one of the newest teams in the competition however the Redbacks battled hard all day and made the Twisters earn ever point.
Rachael Costello battled hard all day keeping her seats close and was the standout on the day.
Despite the disappointing forty-nine game defeat the Redbacks have plenty to build on in the second half of the season have secured three wins so far this year the Redbacks will look to continue improving and shake up the final’s series yet.
