The Gators will welcome Melbourne University to the Shepparton Sports Stadium on Saturday night, before hitting the road to take on Corio Bay in Geelong on Sunday afternoon.
Both sides are sure to test the Shepparton squad, with University currently sitting on top of the ladder and Corio Bay in second place.
Gators coach Josh Waight said his side was excited to take on a couple of really good teams.
“Hopefully we can rectify our performance from last weekend,” Waight said.
It was an unfortunate result last time out for the Gators, with the side falling to Warrnambool by 10 points.
However, with Ian Wright and Matt Whitlock rejoining the squad, the side is sure to be up and about this weekend.
“He (Ian Wright) gives us a bit of size so we’ll throw a different group out there, a different line-up, so that’s a positive,” Waight said.
“Our free throw shooting wasn’t up to standard last week, so we’ve done a bit of free throw shooting to make sure we rectify that and really making sure we don’t get out-competed, we got out-competed last weekend and we don’t want to make it two weeks in a row.
“If you want to be up the top you’ve got to beat the best.
“We want to make sure we give it our best shot and leave nothing on the court.”
With a quick turnaround between matches and another long road trip on the cards, the Gators will be up against it this weekend, yet Waight was only looking at the positives.
“We’ve taken them in our stride so far this season, the double headers, and we’re really looking forward to another challenge this weekend against some really good teams,” he said.
