It was action aplenty for the Murray Valley Cricket Association last week, with the association taking part in Cricket Victoria’s Junior Country Week.

The rising stars of the region took on teams from Bendigo, Goulburn Murray, Seymour and Sunraysia throughout the week-long tournament and created plenty of excitement.

While it was a difficult time for the region on the scoreboard, there were still plenty of highlights throughout.

An impressive 4-14 from Gus Frostick against Cricket Shepparton in the under-13A competition stood out, while in the under-13B division Archie Paterson picked up 3-5 against Seymour.

In the under-14s Liam Sutton produced an incredible 5-20 against Bendigo, with the talent joined by under-15 Baz McDonald on the bowlers-to-watch list after McDonald took 3-7 against Shepparton and struck 30 not-out against Bendigo.

A 4-31 from Charlie Paton stood out in the under-16s against Shepparton, while the strength of the region’s under-17 side was on display across their matches, with a strong batting performance from Tyler Green (37) against Sunraysia standing out.
