Round 4 of the Dunlop Super 2 at Sandown Raceway threw a bag of mixed results and frustrations at Zak Best and Anderson Motorsport Team.
In race one, the Benalla driver qualified in fifth position and surged through the leading pack to finish the race second.
This result extended Best’s championship lead to 84 points.
The driver was looking in fine form in race two where he qualified fourth fastest, but on lap six his fortunes turned.
Best and Zane Morse collided, and while he was able to get back on track, it was at the back of the field.
With safety cars being sent out on track several times throughout the race, Best got back to position 12 and scored points.
The Benalla driver maintains the championship lead by 33 points with two rounds to go.
Best was also on the main stage at Sandown, co-driving for Tickford with James Courtney in the Sandown 500.
Best and his team started the race strong, but an overheated clutch pushed them down the field, finishing the race in 12th.
The biggest race in Australia beckons for Best this weekend as he continues his double duties.
Best will be looking to all but clinch the Dunlop Super 2 championship and finish at the top of the field in the main race at Mt Panorama, co-driving for Tickford.
