It all started like every good cricket story, with a few blokes forgetting how to run between the wickets. Sent into bat on a dodgy and untrustworthy pitch, Corowa were reeling at 5 for 64.
Two run outs, a handful of questionable shots, and plenty of headshaking from the sidelines set the tone early.
But never fear, the lower order was here. Lane (41), Wilson (16), and Starr (20) dug in to steady the ship, showing some much-needed grit and a touch of class.
With a few well-timed boundaries and sensible cricket, Corowa managed to scrape together 135.
Not exactly a headline score, but enough to give the bowlers something to work with.
Then came the fun part, the bowling. Starr and Grant charged in like men with dinner plans, and Baranduda had no idea what hit them.
Wickets tumbled faster than beer cans on a Saturday night. At one stage they were 4 for 18, and the boys could smell blood.
From there, it was all Corowa. The visitors were rolled for 84, with Grant taking 4 for 22 and Starr claiming 3 for 19.
A trademark Corowa performance, a shaky start followed by a spirited comeback.
Huge effort from the lads, great energy all round, and another well-earned win in the bag.
B Grade

B Grade has made it three wins in a row with a tight three wicket victory over Baranduda at Ball Park.

Harry Norman was brought into the attack and got two quick wickets to have Corowa on top at 3 for 36.
Corowa bowlers bowled tightly with Captain Daniel Athanitis rotating the bowlers around looking for breakthroughs with wickets falling at 72, 86, 98 and 103.

Lenny Power looked comfortable making it to 35 before he went to leave Corowa 3 for 61.
Michael Drew went for seven shortly after to have Corowa 4 for 72.
Zac Taylor-Nugent attacked the bowling making a quickfire 22 but when he went and Austin Ross-Anderson shortly after for 18, Corowa had let Baranduda back in the game at 6 for 104.
Then when Jack Eales went, things were looking shaky for Corowa at 7 for 114.
Leroy Chester remained calm as he hit the bad balls and with Daniel Athanitis also putting away the bad balls, Corowa passed the score with 17 overs to spare.
Chester unbeaten on 19 while Athanitis was not out on 17.

C Grade Div 1
Corowa 10/165 def by Wodonga Raiders 7/174.
Corowa C-Grade (Division 1) have used their mulligan early in the season with a horror display at South Corowa on Saturday.
The performance saw dropped catches, ducks, misfields and run outs as the home side dropped its first match for the year.
But in a sign of the depth that this side is developing, Corowa fell just nine runs short of Wodonga Raiders 174 in a gutsy chase.
Despite the misfortunes there were some great highlights. Alex Lavis’s two sharp stumpings showing why he has worn the gloves at A-Grade level, Matt Goodall’s pinpoint medium pacers reaping 4-33 (and could easily have been seven), and skipper Blayre Smith’s rearguard 32 at No eight (five fours) nearly bringing home the chocolates.
Other good performances were Offie Smith’s 2/26 off eight and opener Karvan Silva’s 49 (the big man now has 100 runs from three matches at an average of 50).
Cody Kuschert and Angus King also played their roles in the exciting chase while experienced hands Greg Burgess (26), Danny Osborne (22) and Goodall (19) were good contributors up the order.
The boys will lick their wounds and may welcome back Caleb Kuschert and Oliver Collins when the side takes on its nemesis and preliminary final conqueror of the last two years East Albury this week.

Will Forrest got an early breakthrough and along with Eli Lavis collecting an early wicket, Corowa was on top with Lavington 2 for 17.
A missed run out and a dropped catch proved costly as Phoenix Hawkins made the Corowa boys pay amassing a quick fire 54 before he retired.
Charlie Hall got the breakthrough at 98 and the Corowa bowlers got on top. Poppy Collins in her first game was the destroyer taking 3 for 18 off her four overs and with support from Hall and Jake Witherden (1/9) Corowa was able to restrict Lavington to 7 for 121 off 20 overs on the small ground.
In reply, Lenny Power and Austin Ross Anderson made the chase look easy as Power smashed 53 before retiring. This included four boundaries and four sixes into the adjoining school.
The pressure from the batmen didn’t wain when Aiden Wintle came to the crease as he smashed an unbeaten 20 not out and along with Ross-Anderson’s unbeaten 44, Corowa cruised to the score after 15 over finishing at 0 for 131.

Under 14s Div 1
Wodonga Raiders 9/82 def by Corowa Black 0/83.
The Corowa Under 14s notched up a strong win in their second game of the season, comfortably defeating the Wodonga Raiders after an excellent all-round performance.

Finley Douglas produced a fiery spell, finding himself on a hat-trick and finishing with 2/14, as the Raiders were bowled out for just 82 runs.
In reply, Corowa’s openers made light work of the chase. Jackson Barber (30*) and Archie Rhodes (24*) batted confidently, rotating the strike and punishing loose deliveries before both retired just after drinks.
That set the stage for Blair Livingston-Laing (8*) and Finley Douglas to guide the team home, sealing a convincing win for Corowa without the loss of a wicket.

Corowa’s turn with the ball saw some fierce bowling right from the outset. Tyler claimed two back-to-back wickets in his first over, with Jake following suit with another.
Jobe Ollington was rock solid behind the stumps for the first 10 overs before Tyler took over wicket keeping duties for the remaining overs.
Hugh Hicks added to the tally with two wickets and an impressive catch in the field, while Bill Smith and Tex continued the momentum to see Corowa home comfortably.
