Cobram Secondary College student Lenny Power, 16, was selected along with two boys from Corowa, Joe and Eli Lavis, by former NSW state player Daniel Smith to join the Global Cricket Academy League.
Former NSW state player Daniel Smith played 25 First Class and 30 List A matches for the Blues, and still holds the record for the highest one-day score for NSW, whacking 179 not out.
The boys will be taking on other similarly talented under-18 Sri Lankan teams in Colombo from April 4 to April 17.
Lenny, who is a batter, said it would be a new experience, with the pitches — and the weather — being different to Australia.
“I’m excited and a bit nervous as well,” he said.

Lenny has been playing cricket for nearly 10 years. He started by playing locally as a junior before being recognised for performances regionally and at state level.
“Dad took me along to a lot of his trainings, he got me involved in cricket, that’s where I started,” he said.
Lenny’s dad, Will Power, said the family were excited when they found out he had been selected.
“He’s worked really hard over the last three years,” Mr Power said.
Being from the border region, Lenny has the fortune of accessing both Cricket Victoria and Cricket NSW.
He has made a number of squads and teams outside his club cricket, including at the NSW State Youth Championships and Victoria State Country Cup several years in a row.
Lenny was also selected for the 2025 Cricket Albury Wodonga High-Performance Academy and the 2025 to 2026 NSW State Youth Academy, among others.
He was lucky enough to also qualify for a grant through Barooga Sporties for the Global Cricket Academy League, alongside other sponsorship.
“Local businesses are chipping in, not just for Lenny, but for the three boys to make it a little bit easier on their parents,” Mr Power said.
