Normally, the meeting would have been held in May, so it will be a slightly shorter term for the newly-elected board.
Ray Parks will lead the club as president. Other officers bearers are: deputy president - Glenda Mann; secretary - Andrew Rushby; treasurer - Jenny Warfe; and directors - Carol Doherty, Ieva Saunders, Ian Bray and Paul McKay.
Parks proposed a vote of thanks to the outgoing treasurer Barry Turner, who has ably managed the club's finances for 10 years, and directors Kerry Baldacchino and Glenn Murphy who did not re-nominate.
The club is still looking for members to nominate for the match committee as club events need to be organised.
Bowlers were pleased to be out on the greens in fine weather. Masks of many shapes and colours were worn.
As advised by Bowls Victoria, masks may be temporarily removed if the bowler has difficulty breathing. Social distancing is then even more important until such time as the mask is replaced.
Tuesday morning saw a small but competitive group play. It is hoped more bowlers will join in at 10 am each Tuesday for a mufti game. Names to be in by 5 pm Monday. It is great time to practice your skills and vie for a place in the winners circle.
Saturday bowls attracted 31 players for the club-selected COVID two-bowl triples, including a few visitors.
At the end of the day, there was only one team with three wins. Congratulations to Margaret Cooper, Paul McKay and Laurie Vinecombe.
Runners-up with two wins and two points clear were Maree O’Brien, Andrew Giblin and Peter Wood. Best first game went to Kerry Baldacchino, Ken Perkins and Chris Thomas.
The first Thursday trade day has been scheduled to be played at Cobram on Thursday, October 8. Teams to Pat Quinane by 5 pm Wednesday, October 7.
The 60 and Over draw has been postponed until further notice.
