Cobram Barooga Anglers president Stefan Bruni started the club in 2017 with the idea of getting some mates and other locals together who enjoyed fishing and camping.
“We’re always out fishing, or we’re camping ... and then it was like, why don’t we get together and start a fishing club, so then other people can do it,” Mr Bruni said.
“We've got one of the best patches on the Murray for fishing and our beaches are fantastic ... no matter where you are, you'll always find good fishing.”
Toby Bell won the ‘junior biggest yella’, with a catch of 46cm.

Mr Bruni said the club had people of all ages, including fathers and sons.
The club has five rounds of competitions a year, with each round sponsored by Cobram Outdoors, providing vouchers for the winners.
“Our competitions are for members only, we have an app, and it’s $20 to be a member of the club,” Mr Bruni said.
The competition works on a points system for the overall winner and there are different awards for each round such as ‘the biggest cod’ and ‘the biggest yellow belly’.
At the end of each round, the club puts on a barbecue lunch, with presentations and vouchers handed out.
Donald Bell won the ‘adults’ biggest yella’, with a catch of 56cm in the last round of the 2025 season.

Alongside competitions, the club holds a social camp-out in winter, with firewood donated, picking a spot down by the river and enjoying a barbecue dinner.
“It’s a good excuse to get out and chill out, sit back and watch the fire burn and have a few beers and just get back to basics and talk to mates again,” Mr Bruni said.
The club is currently looking for sponsors for the 2026 season, as well as new members.
