∙ Stanhope’s under-18 season ended in unfortunate circumstances when illness forced the team to contest its elimination final with an under-strength squad against Longwood.
The Lions won five of their 14 games for the season, finishing sixth — three wins ahead of Longwood — but had played the entire season with the bare minimum players and lost their captain before the game through injury.
A day earlier eighth-ranked Undera, which made the finals despite losing all 13 of its games this season, was forced to forfeit to fifth-ranked Girgarre.
Longwood won the elimination final 10.8 (68) to Stanhope’s 8.5 (53).
Stanhope kicked four goals in the opening term and led by 12 points, maintaining a three-point lead at the long break.
Longwood kicked four third-quarter goals, Seth Kilroy finishing with a game high five majors, and led by nine points at the final change of ends.
William Seedsman was Stanhope’s best player, while James Mullens and Tyreece Kerr both kicked two goals.
