After an impressive win over Benalla in round three to get in the winner’s column, Kyabram wasn’t able to ride the momentum in its contest against Shepparton United.
Travelling to Deakin Reserve to challenge the Demons, the Bombers appeared out matched in the first quarter, conceding a run of goals to start and end the term to fall behind by 10.
The Bombers weren’t going to go down easily, mounting a strong fightback in the second period and going toe-to-toe with Shepparton United.
However, the Demons were still able to outscore Kyabram by a point in the lead up to half-time, extending their lead to 11 at the major break.
Both sides could only manage seven goals apiece in the third term, with fatigue and tight defence making scoring scarce.
A 16-goal final effort by Shepparton United left the Bombers dead and buried, with the travelling side only able to produce eight goals of their own.
The final score was 59 to 34.
The 25-goal loss serves as a reminder of Kyabram’s place in the Goulburn Valley Netball League’s hierarchy as the side continues to develop as the season wears on.
Fortunately for the Bombers, they will return home to face Mansfield in round five, a side who has yet to win a game so far this season.
The match will be a nice test to see how far Kyabram can push itself against a weaker side and potentially get another win under its belt before the season’s midway point.
