Benalla Bowls Club held its first jackpot triples on Wednesday, March 6, with 30 players visiting from Violet Town.
The winning team was Graeme Pitts, Graeme McNutt and Wayne Neylon, winning the first game and a plus 7 in the final game.
The runners-up, losing the first game and plus 4 in their final game, were Ian Brond, Ray Bradley and Max Drummond.
The finals of the ladies and men’s minor singles were held on Saturday, March 9, with Christine Gray convincingly beating Janis McClure 21-8.
A club spokesperson said it’s only Christine's second year of bowling.
“So she’s very promising for the club,” the spokesperson said.
“The men’s had a similar outcome with Ken Ackerman too consistent for Ian Hobson, winning 22-9.”
The club pairs kicks off on Saturday, March 16, in a sectional format with 12 teams participating.
