Wednesday social bowls
Social bowls on Wednesday, March 13 was played on the west green and for a point of difference there was a blending of formats; some players played three-bowl pairs and there was one game of two-bowl triples.
The two-bowl triples format obviously appealed to the overall winners on the day who were Ian Price (S), Don Tipping (2) and Frankie Lieberg (L). They greeted the judges with two game wins and plus-four shots.
No other rink could muster two wins which meant that the runners-up with a draw in one game and a win in the second game with plus 7 shots, were the pairing of Rob Lidgerwood (S) and Barb Tennyson (L).
It was a profitable day for Barb Tennyson who won the Lucky Number. The Rolling Jackpot wasn’t won, and this week will stand around the $50 mark.
Friday social bowls
It was a terrific turnout for the first game of the new Friday Social Bowls season. The format was the ever popular 2 x 4 x 2 with 44 players participating.
The winners on the day were the combo of Bob Evans and Les Wilson. The runners up were the pairing of Rhonda and Ray Irvine.
The lucky losers prize went to Jill and Ron Lamson.
Just a reminder that there will be no Friday Social game on Good Friday, however Friday Social will resume on Friday, April 5.
Presentation day
As previously mentioned, Presentation Day will be held on Sunday, April 7 commencing at noon at the Croquet Club.
Food and drink are provided at no cost to members, but if you could help out with a salad or dessert, that would be a great help.
Those intending to come along could you place your names on the list at the Bowls Office. When placing your names on the list could you indicate if you are bringing along a salad or dessert, it would be appreciated. Until next week, good bowling.
Yarrawonga Bowls
There is going to be a working bee held this Friday at 8am to get the clubhouse and surrounds tidied up before Easter. We have had good numbers for past working bees and hope to get the same response this time around.
Our four-day Easter Tournament starts on Good Friday. We are asking for donations of salads for the Friday and slices for Sunday. Helpers are needed each day as well so if you can spare some time it would be greatly appreciated. There is a sheet up for names and details. For any more information you can contact Kay Tait.
