The beginning of the Weekend Pennant season was cancelled due to the ongoing and dangerous fire and weather conditions in the Ovens and Murray District.

Midweek Pennant commenced on Tuesday, January 20
Division A1 travelled to Benalla.
Division A4 were at home to Wangaratta.
Division B2 travelled to Wangaratta.
Ovens and Murray District State Region Championships at Ballarat
Congratulations to the Ovens and Murray Men and the six representatives from RSL Bowls.
The District were runners up in the Siver Division, which resulted in the District being promoted to Gold Division next year.
Stuart McNeill won the District best player award.
The Ladies were runners up in Gold Division and remain in Gold.
Ovens and Murray State Singles at YMGCR
RSL had five entries in this Tournament.
Congratulations to Chris Cooney and Sam Beaton who won their Sectional and progress to finals weekend.
Men's Triples Club Championships
Alan Holmquest, Peter Summerill and Wayne Lee defeated Tony Coughlin, Darryl Brown, and Gary Brown.
Lex Thornton, Ketch, and Jordan Thornton defeated Tim Buggy, Razz, and Andy Dickins.
The next round is to be played on or before Sunday, February 1.
Ladies Triples Championship
The finalists have been decided.
Ann McGeehan, Anne Smith, and Anne Summerill will play Jenny Lawrence, Wendy Robb and Julie Holmquest at a DTBA.
Congratulations ladies.
Club Notes
The club extended its thanks to the Ladies who attended the recent working bee, helping prepare the club for the start of the Pennant season.
Appreciation was also given to the Greens Committee and volunteers for their ongoing efforts and support.
Members are reminded that club coaching is available every Wednesday afternoon from 4.30pm with coach Chris Cooney.
It is also encouraging to hear that several non-bowling ladies are interested in learning and playing in February.
New participants are welcomed to RSL Bowls and Club Corowa.
Corowa Civic Bowls Club
The first round of the Ovens and Murray Novices was held at the Wodonga Bowling Club on Sunday, December 14, with Corowa Civic well represented by five members; Shane Rosenow, John Dalgleish, Clint Snow, Dion McKay and Tony Larkin.
The quarter-finals and final were contested on Sunday, January 11.
Corowa Civic enjoyed a strong showing, with Tony Larkin, Dion McKay, Clint Snow and Shane Rosenow all qualifying for the knockout stages.
It proved to be a long day of competitive bowls as all matches were completed.
Corowa Civic capped off an outstanding performance by providing both finalists in the grand final, with Dion McKay and Clint Snow facing off for the title.
Dion emerged victorious in a closely fought match.
Congratulations to Dion on a fine win, and well done to all Corowa Civic players who took part.
Recognition was also extended to Jason Long from Corowa RSL Bowls Club, who competed strongly alongside a talented group of emerging bowlers from the Corowa region.
Club Activity and Pennant Update
During the week, the club hosted a Holiday Visitors bowls evening, followed by a barbecue to conclude the night.
The club thanked visiting bowlers for contributing to an enjoyable evening.
Weekend Pennant matches scheduled for Saturday were cancelled by the Ovens and Murray association due to fire conditions affecting several clubs.
Despite this, Corowa Civic held a practice pennant match on Saturday morning, attracting a strong turnout of players.
Pennant competition resumes on Saturday, January 24, with Round 12 fixtures seeing Corowa Civic travel to Wodonga in A2, while B2 hosts Myrtleford and B3 hosts Kiewa.
Midweek Pennant commences on Tuesday, January 20, with A1 playing YMGCR away, B1 hosting Milawa, and B2 travelling to Lavington.
Social Bowls
Wednesday social bowls was well attended, with a tie declared for overall winners between Guy Rowe, Shane Rosenow and Graeme McIntosh, and the team of Peter Howell and Dion McKay.
