Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp last Wednesday announced the cash splash which would go towards helping 24 local clubs get back on their feet following the affects of the coronavirus.
The 24 clubs each receive up to $1000 thanks to the Community Sport Sector COVID-19 Survival Package.
Mr Gepp was pleased to see a number of clubs across the Moira Shire given a hand in paying bills to make a return to play a little easier.
“We know that sport and recreation play a big part in our physical and mental wellbeing, that is why the Andrews Government is supporting our local sporting and recreation clubs — to help bounce back from coronavirus restrictions and return to play as soon as possible,” he said.
“$1000 might not seem like much, but for a small, volunteer run club in rural and regional areas, this funding is helping to pay bills which could mean the difference between starting back up sooner than later,” he said.
Cobram Cricket Club, Katamatite Cricket Club Inc, Katunga Football Netball Club, 1st Cobram Scout Group, Cobram Horse and Pony Club, Cobram Junior Soccer Inc, Cobram Lawn Tennis Club Inc, Cobram Barooga Canoe Club Inc and Cobram-Barooga Swimming Club were some of the recipients.
The scheme helped 12,000 clubs and associations across the state.
