Cobrams strike at home

Goulburn Murray Lawn Tennis action returned at the weekend, where division three Cobram Cobras sit on top of the ladder after round four.

The side played second-placed Tatura Charges on Saturday at Cobram and snuck away with a win, 7-85 to 6-72.

Peter Holland’s started the day off with a 6-2 win in his singles, Jordan Bovalina played the second singles, falling short 4-6 in a very tough contest.

The men lost both doubles matches, 6-8, 6-8, lucky but for them the women fired up and won three out of four double matches, 8-2, 8-3, 8-0 and 6-8.

Going into the mixed, the side secured three out of four matches - 8-6, 8-6, 3-8, 8-7 - to take the win.

In division two, Cobram Crocs also played at home against Shepparton Giants in what was going to be a close encounter.

Luke Bramley and David Bate lost their singles, 1-6, 4-6, and were followed by Kate Bird and Tamara Bate, who also lost their matches, 4-6, 1-6.

It was a tough day for the men’s doubles with the first pairing losing 2-8, while the other pairing won in a tie breaker, 8-7.

In the women's doubles, Cobram won 8-2 and lost 5-8. The Crocs won two out of three mixed matches - 8-4, 8-3 and 4-8 - narrowly losing 4-53 to 7-64.

Three-set winners for the day were Jackie Vogel and Kerrie Fisher.
