The 31-year-old is on the sidelines with a knee cartilage injury that he sustained in the 30-4 loss to Manly away in round 17.
Munster has addressed how the injury occurred and what his return looks like. The Storm must win all of their remaining five games to play finals.
A return for Munster in round 23 against Manly at AAMI Park is a possibility but the Panthers clash at home a fortnight later is more likely.
"I'll be back in a couple of weeks," Munster said.
"We've got Bulldogs, Manly, the bye and then Penrith. I've pencilled in Penrith. Probably not the greatest time to be coming back with a knee injury, but I'm excited to come back."
Munster revealed the injury did not happen for Queensland in the State of Origin decider loss to NSW in Brisbane where he was below his best, but rather in a club match.
Most NRL players soldier on with niggles and that is exactly what Munster thought it was.
"I don't know if I did too much more damage to it in the Origin decider. I definitely did something to it in the Manly game," he said.
"I didn't realise the full extent of the injury until after the Origin game. It blew up like a balloon the night before because of the training and preparation we were doing.
"I wasn't going to let my teammates down, let alone the state. In hindsight, I probably did. It wasn't my greatest game and I'm my biggest critic. It was definitely under par and not up to the standard I expect of myself."
Munster has been the Maroons best player of the decade and will not be swayed by critics who suggest he should hang up his representative boots on the back of one below par display.
"A lot of people want me to retire by the sound of it," he said.
"I've still got three or four years left in me. Maybe not representative footy, but definitely a couple more years at the highest level.
"I know there's been a lot of speculation about me retiring. All I can do is keep trying to play good footy.
"I'm the captain of Queensland and the only way that changes is if I'm not playing the footy I know I can.Â
"There are young kids coming through, and good luck to them, but I'll be doing everything I can to keep that jersey."
