An artistic ode to the local Aboriginal community was unveiled at headspace Echuca recently, bringing nine months of work to life.

The ‘One headsapce, many communities’ artwork was a collaborative project headed by a group of young people with support from local organisations and businesses.

“Within the project, we shared stories of connection, and great pride in who they were as Aboriginal children,” she said.
“It now stands here as a reflection of their voices, their journeys and our shared spirit.”
Drawings from the group were fabricated into a display at the headspace entrance with help from Bunnings Echuca, Donchis/Nullarbor Sustainable Timber and Joinery, and Echuca Engineering.
A copy of the children’s drawings was laser cut into a metal sheet, which is framed with local wood and complemented by native plantings beneath it.

“Through this project, young people led the way. They shared their stories, they listened deeply, collaborated, and created something much bigger than themselves,” she said.
“Every footprint, ripple symbol, carries meaning, and together, they speak to the belonging to Country and the support around us.”
Two of the group members, Tyson Foley and Jaraua Harrison, attended the unveiling, and were joined by family members and Elders.
Attendees were invited into headspace following the opening ceremony to see the services on offer and for a morning tea.
