From Sunday, August 23, more than 400 extra train services will begin to run across the network.
This includes hourly trains every Saturday and Sunday on the Seymour line.
There will also be additional trains on the Shepparton line, with nine weekday return services to and from Southern Cross, and five return services every weekend.
“More trains on the timetable means less time waiting on the platform and more time to enjoy your destination, whether it’s getting home, going to the footy, hanging out at the beach or heading to work,” Public Transport Minister Vicki Ward said.
“Labor is making getting the train easier, faster and cheaper.”
Additional services will also run on the Geelong, Wyndham Vale, Mernda, Hurstbridge, Belgrave, Lilydale, Upfield, Craigieburn, Werribee, Laverton, Williamstown and Sandringham lines.
