A total of 15 councils, including Strathbogie, Mitchell and Moira, will share $15 million in funding, jointly funded under the Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
The Federal and Victorian governments are supporting bushfire-affected communities across Victoria to rebuild and recover, with funding for 27 new community recovery officers and investment in local recovery hubs.
Victorian Natural Disaster Recovery Minister Vicki Ward said the government would always provide on-the-ground support to help communities regain, rebuild and recover confidence.
“We’ll always stand with Victorians as they get back on their feet after disaster,” Ms Ward said.
“Recovery works best when it’s shaped by locals.”
This summer, more than 430,000 hectares of land were burnt and more than 1500 structures damaged or destroyed.
The investment is part of the $370 million in relief and recovery support the governments have committed under the DRFA.
