The world championships ran from Thursday, February 19 to Sunday, February 22 at the Melbourne Gun Club.
Cameron was up against 18 different countries and a total of 312 competitors.
He was also awarded the Junior Beretta cup, which combines this year’s and last year's scores.
The world championships last year were held in Rome, and Cameron finished second in his division and seventh in the overall championships.
Cameron said he was excited when he found out he had won the world title this year.
“It felt good to win it because last year I came second, so I was happy to win it this year,” he said.
Cameron’s mum, Jo Ford, said she was proud of him.
“He puts a lot of time and effort into what he does, and he's worked hard,” she said.

Ms Ford said the competition involved shooting 50 targets per day across the four days, and Cameron shot 195 out of 200.
“It takes a lot of concentration,” she said.
“You’ve got to switch on because the targets are moving at different angles and speeds, and it rotates between day and afternoon to keep it fair and even.”
Mrs Ford said she had been shooting for 29 years, and her husband had been shooting for even longer than that.
“My dad used to run the Cobram Clay Target Club years ago before it folded, so my dad was a clay target shooter, and that's how I met my husband and how I got into shooting,” she said.
Mrs Ford said Cameron started clay target shooting eight years ago, getting involved in the sport through them.
Mrs Ford got her qualification to be a referee in the sport in Italy last year, and until recently was the only qualified international referee for Australia.
Northern Vic Ammo Supplies is a major sponsor of Cameron, and his workplace, Typrepower, is also very supportive.
Cameron will represent Australia in the ISSF trench division in the World Cup, an Olympic discipline, on Tuesday, March 24 in Morocco.
