Tigers coach Kate Bird could not single out any of her charges as crucial to the triumph — with all of them playing their part.
‘‘We just kept building every quarter, our third quarter is always our best quarter,’’ Bird said.
‘‘Our defenders just did really well and we were able to capitalise on that.
‘‘We’re just building every week, we’re a really young team. I’m the oldest in the team, but all the rest are (about) 19, so this is a step better than last year and that’s all we can hope for, to just keep building.
‘‘All of them (were great), I can’t split them. Everyone did their role and that’s what we needed and that’s when we win, when everyone plays their role. ‘‘These girls, it’s the second final they’ve ever played in seniors, so it’s a good future I guess for the club.
‘‘There’s not much experience in the team, they’re still babies, they’re learning every week and they get so nervous, but they have high expectations which is really nice.’’
The win sets up a clash with the Deniliquin Rams. The Rams finished three wins ahead of the Tigers in the regular season, however, Bird’s side will have the home court advantage in this winner-takes-all match.
Three other Cobram sides played finals across the weekend, with B-grade losing its elimination final 29-55 to Tongala. C-grade suffered a similar fate against Echuca United, losing 46-33, in the qualifying final, which means the side is still alive and faces Moama in a semi-final on Saturday. Cobram’s under-13s defeated Numurkah in the elimination finals, thumping the Blues by 34 goals. The side takes on Echuca United in a semi-final on the weekend.
