The Muller family have enabled one Balinese mother to follow her dreams, after gifting her an oven to help turn her passion for baking into the chance to one day run her own business.
Hayley Muller, together with her husband and children, have formed a close friendship with Ketut and her husband, Wayan, who has driven the family around on their many trips to the Indonesian island.
So on their most recent trip, just weeks before Hayley’s daughter Tahlia celebrates her 18th birthday, the family decided to give back the best way they knew how.
When Ketut realised the large box containing the oven was intended for her, Hayley said her friend broke down in tears of gratitude.
“To us, it’s not much,” Hayley said.
“But to her, it means the world.”
Hayley explained that she understood how hard it could be for young mothers follow their dreams while juggling work and raising children.
“As a mum, I know what it’s like to sort of get forgotten,” she said.
Ketut already had an oven, which she used to bake cakes and muffins.
But with its limited space, it was too small for her ambitions.

While they’re not the first Australian family to gift items to Balinese families doing it tough, the Mullers are potentially the first to gift an item that will go such a long way to making a difference in Ketut’s life.
Now, with a little help from her friends, Ketut has more space to bake than ever.
