Gone Fishing Weekend is set to be bigger than ever in 2026, with celebrations expanding across October 17-18 and local clubs are invited to play a major role.

It would be great to see some local events taking place.

The NSW Government is encouraging fishing clubs and community organisations to apply now for special event packages designed to help them host their own activities across the weekend.

Each package includes rod‑and‑reel kits, giveaways and resources aimed at creating welcoming, family‑friendly events that introduce more people to recreational fishing.

They’re a great way for local fishing clubs and fishing organisations to showcase what they do, connect with their communities and help inspire the next generation of fishers.

Applications are open now and close on August 11, giving clubs plenty of time to plan how they might showcase their work and connect with new members.
