A spokesperson said the annual event, which is sponsored by Benalla Rural City, HVP Plantations, Lima South Quarry, Peter Davis Rural and the Swanpool and District Community group, invites locals and newcomers to the area to enjoy a barbecue, live music by 2 Easy Duo, and a bit of dancing.
“It’s also an opportunity to present community awards to those who have contributed significantly to the area.”
Local kids loved having a chance to see Swanpool CFAs fire tanker at the community's recent barbecue.
This year’s recipients were Ros McQueen, retiring secretary of the Swanpool and District Community Development Association and Swanpool Cinema volunteer, Louise Wright.
“Local fire brigade captain Neil Williams and CFA firefighters brought the Swanpool fire truck to the oval,” the spokesperson said.
“Which was a huge delight for the children.
“Benalla Rural City Mayor Bernie Hearn also dropped by and chatted with local residents.”
