The Community River Arts Inc is having a movie night at the Cobram Cinema on Tuesday, February 17 to raise funds for the Cobram CFA.
The film for the night is Wuthering Heights, based on the classic novel written by Emily Brontë in 1847.
The event starts at 6pm with light refreshments before the movie begins at 7pm.
Community River Arts Inc secretary and treasurer Fiona Hackett said that given the recent fires the group wanted to support the CFA and give back to the local community.
“We often partner with different groups within the community to show our support,” she said.
Tickets to the movie night are $20 and guests will receive a glass of champagne on arrival and some nibbles to enjoy before the movie starts.
“If you’re not a drinker, you can have something non-alcoholic, there will be tea and coffee available as well,” Ms Hackett said.
“We’ll also have our raffle there that we’re doing for Mother’s Day, so there’s an opportunity for people to buy a raffle ticket too.
“This year for the Mother’s Day raffle prize we have things like a pamper pack, and we've got a food pack as well.
“So time to spoil the mums, and we start that process off now, and we'll draw the prize in May.”
The Community River Arts Inc also has its Autumn Family Community Fair coming up in March to raise funds for Barooga Public School.
The fair will be held at Barooga Public School on March 8 from 9am, with over 30 different stalls, games for kids and a barbecue.
Entry is free, with a $20 fee if you would like to set up a stall at the fair.
Ms Hackett said they had people selling flowers, wood, pottery, clothing, knitted items, jam, preserves and more at the market last year.
“It’s a little bit atypical to a market where you might get a lot of second-hand goods; we don't have any of that, it's all handmade, produced locally.”
