The Picola and District Football Netball League saw Strathmerton’s senior netball and football teams victorious as they clashed against Jerilderie.
In netball, both Strathmerton’s A-grade and B-grade teams came out with convincing wins.
The Strathmerton A-grade team started strong and continued their form throughout the game with goal-shooter Kelly Laidlaw tallying up 31 goals.
At game’s end, Strathmerton sat pretty at 58 to 21.
The B-grade netball team was almost as dominant, defeating Jerilderie 54 to 40.
The 2023 premiership-winning team used the game to trial new tactics and combinations and it clearly worked with the shooting circle working flawlessly together against their opponent’s defence.
The game also saw Dakota Kelly making her senior debut in B-grade.
By all accounts, she held her own and played well.
It wasn’t just the netball teams bringing home the bacon for Strathmerton.
Strathmerton’s senior football team dominated their round two games against Jerilderie, finishing 99-46.
Strathmerton’s Mitchell Payne, Darcy Holding and Haydyn Wyatt all made their presence felt early; however, the first half was a struggle.
It was in the third quarter that Strathmerton broke the deadlock.
Timothy Looby and Brock Palmer each scored three goals, making them Strathmerton’s most prolific goal-scorers of the game.
Tyler Stephens and Josh Payne got the game going with some run and carry, while Theo Thomas and Palmer dominated the clearances, giving the forwards first use.
