Strathmerton Lions Club hosts annual Junior Public Speaking Competition

A club spokesperson said children from the Strathmerton and Katunga primary schools took part in the annual event.

“It aims to give children in primary schools the chance to develop their ability to speak in public,” the spokesperson said.

“There were 12 students participating, and the standard was very impressive.”

The competition comprised of two levels:

In the Year 3/4 category Campbell Brennan from Katunga Primary School was the winning speaker, with Flynn Cleary from Strathmerton Primary School runner-up.

Indiana Brennan from Katunga Primary School was the winning speaker in the Year 5/6 category, and Strathmerton Primary School student Anna Mendoza was runner-up.

Campbell and Indiana will progress to the district final, which will be held at Tocumwal Lions Clubrooms on Sunday, August 25.
