On Saturday, March 28, the team at Woolworths opened the supermarket’s doors to the community to celebrate Easter and fundraise for the Good Friday Appeal.
Kids enjoyed a morning filled with fairy floss, face painting, arts and crafts and more, all while funds were raised to support the Royal Children’s Hospital.
They also were delighted with a visit from the Easter bunny.
Bonnie and Lenny were keen to meet the famous rabbit.

Staff member Bec Cashill said it was a jam-packed event, filled with festive fun.
“It was good — we had a lot of kids coming through, which was awesome, and people turned up for the raffle and the Easter egg guessing jar,” she said.
“We had an Easter egg hunt, we had Lauren from the Salvos doing face painting for us, a fairy floss machine, which people had to contribute a donation to the Good Friday Appeal for, and we had arts and crafts, as well as food sampling.”
Zac was named the winner of the colouring competition.

The event was part of the local supermarket’s ongoing fundraising for the appeal, with a gold coin donation on entry and money raised through the raffle going towards funds already collected through Good Friday Appeal tins at the registers.
“For Good Friday, we do something every year. Last year we had an event, too, and we wanted to do it again this year,” Ms Cashill said.
“I know that (we’ve raised) over $1000 so far, from what we can see.”
The store has a history of fundraising, whether for causes relating to the local community or outside its borders.
After dealing out an abundance of chocolate eggs, the Easter bunny headed off ahead of the big day on Easter Sunday.

“We actually donated to an aged care facility in Alexandra, and, as a store donation, we donated Easter eggs for the kids at Gnarly Neighbours,” Ms Cashill said.
“At Woolies, we have donated in the past to the community, we just don’t really advertise it.
“The other thing we do on Easter week is take money off random people’s shops. We’ve got a certain amount we can spend, so we might take about $50 off someone’s shop at the end of our checkout.
“It’s little things like that that I guess people don’t know about, these little nice gestures.”
The local supermarket will be accepting donations to the Good Friday Appeal until Tuesday, April 7.
