The Deniliquin and District Junior Soccer Club had plenty to cheer about on Monday night at the Deniliquin RSL.

The club invited anyone who would like to attend as a group to watch the Fifa Women’s World Cup soccer match between Australia and Canada.

The club’s sports lounge was decorated with a patriotic balloon assortment from Party Pack & Wrap and attendees donned beanies, scarves, temporary tattoos and everything green and gold.

There was a raffle with prizes galore, and soccer club merchandise that you could purchase.

The atmosphere was electric, and after a quick meal the crowd of more than 25 people settled in to watch the game.

It wasn’t long before Australia provided fans with a goal frenzy defeating Canada 4-0 in front of a 27,000 strong crowd at the game, and many more watching on the big screens and at home.

Australia needed the win to have a realistic chance of avoiding group stage elimination. They play their next match on Monday, August 7 at 8.30pm.
