Time is running out to secure your spot to see first-hand the famed trophy, in what will be the Cobram Lions Club’s fundraising event of the year to gather support for a dialysis facility in Cobram.
Lions member Janet Austin said the community had been very supportive of the initiative and agreed that dialysis was a service the town needed.
“Access to dialysis services is becoming a big issue for Cobram-Barooga locals,” she said.
“We trust the community will get behind the Lexus Melbourne Cup visit, by supporting not only the cup’s visit, but the two very important fundraisers. The Lions Club are grateful to the Moira Shire for their sponsorship of these events.”
There will be two events on Monday, October 6, beginning with a breakfast at Thompsons Beach.
Starting at 6.30am, the breakfast will have tea, coffee, and egg and bacon rolls available to purchase.
Later that day, a gala dinner with a two-course meal will be held at the Grand Central Hotel, where guests will have the chance to get a photo with the cup and meet former Racing Victoria chief steward Des Gleeson.
Tickets for the dinner, which begins at 5pm, are $100 each, and can be purchased until noon on Sunday, October 5, at tinyurl.com/uxfdkwrf
