The Cobram Barooga Apex Club lawn mower races are back on Sunday, March 12 and they’re set to be bigger and better than ever.
Held at Scott’s Reserve in Cobram, gates open at 9.30am with races beginning at 10.30am.
Entry is only $2.
Australian Ride On Lawn Mower Racing Association member and racing enthusiast Stuart Eliott says participants race lawn mowers in three rounds and a final with the winner vying for a trophy and the bragging rights for the year.
According to Mr Eliott the mowers are heavily modified to suit racing conditions.
“They have completely different engines,” Mr Eliott said.
Races are broken up into four classes with the junior class riding mowers up to 110cc engine capacity, C class up to 200cc, B class is 250cc and A class is up to 450cc.
Along with the races, attendees will be able to enjoy a barbecue and drinks while kids will be well catered for with fun activities such as the spoon and spark plug race, lolly drop and sack races.
Cobram Barooga Apex Club member Scott Gleeson said registration can be completed on the day and that many of the local riders had already registered.
Mr Gleeson is urging anyone who wants to enjoy an exciting family-friendly community event in a relaxed atmosphere to come along.
“It’s a low-cost family fun event. There will be plenty of action and enjoyment to have in a relaxed atmosphere.”
