The gates will open at 3.30pm with kids’ entertainment, food stalls and a bar available, there will be live music from 5pm, with the rodeo itself starting at 6pm.
Katamatite Lions Club member Andrew Moffitt said it was the club’s fourth year organising the rodeo, with the club and other volunteers beginning preparation as far back as June.
“It is a fairly big thing to put together, but it has been successful in the way that it has generated funds that we’re able to put back into other service clubs in the area,” Mr Moffitt said.

“Last year, the profits were around the $20,000 mark, so that went back into the community.
“We were down a bit last year on our crowd with just over 2000 ...this year if the weather’s kind to us, we’re hoping for about 3000.”
Mr Moffitt said it could be hard for community members and neighbours in rural areas to get together, and this event was a good opportunity to do that.
“One of the things that we’ve found is it’s a very good event for our local community to actually get together and it’s good for our service clubs because it brings our service clubs together.”

Mr Moffitt said the rodeo itself always created a lot of excitement, and organisers hoped the weather wouldn’t be too hot.
