Expressions are open to anyone within the LWMP footprint and will close March 27.
All expressions must fall under at least one or more of the three pillars of advocacy, education and research and development.
They must be of benefit to all irrigated properties in the NSW Murray Irrigation LWMP area, or dryland properties that retain a water use licence.
Projects must be submitted via one of the five landholder associations (LHA) at either Denimein, Deniboota, Wakool, West Berriquin or Berrigan Irrigators Council (BIC).
After the closing date, projects will be discussed on their merit at the LHA level and any suitable project will then move on to the next phase for discussion with the LAC.
The LAC is made up of a representative from each landholder association.
Riverina Sustainable director Waander Van Beek said this year the LAC has also decided to offer a scholarship or scholarships to the value of $10,000.
“The scholarship is open to any secondary student within the LWMP footprint studying agriculture at a tertiary level, whether they live in town or on a farm – the EOI form is available on the website,” Mr Van Beek said.
The amount of money available for funding in round two will be determined by the financial performance of the fund and the quality of projects presented via the EOI form.
General information and expressions of interest forms are available on the website www.lwmp.com.au
Riverina Sustainable LWMP funds are a legacy from the original LWMP which started in 1991 and finished in 2010.
At the time the LWMP was considered the gold standard for community engagement in land and water practices, with landholders within the MIL footprint, along with state and federal governments, partnering to address the issues of the time that had the ability to impact on future profitability and sustainability of the region.
