Ms Tyrrell said she raised the appalling condition of Katamatite-Yarrawonga Rd with Roads Minister Melissa Horne in September last year.
At the time, Ms Horne gave an undertaking that maintenance on the road would be completed but Ms Tyrrell said the works had been unsatisfactory.
“As a result of me raising the condition of the Katamatite-Yarrawonga Rd in September, the Department of Transport only filled in some of the deeper potholes and the road is still extremely dangerous for motorists,” she said.
Ms Tyrrell said the road was littered with potholes, rutting and uneven surfaces almost the entire length from Katamatite to Yarrawonga.
She said driving the road was like being on a roller coaster.
“When motorists are forced to swerve to miss hitting potholes that most likely will damage to their vehicles, action must be taken,” Ms Tyrrell said.
“It’s clear the works previously carried out have done little to make this road safe.
“Regional Victorians are tired of navigating dangerous roads just to travel around their communities and are sick of this issue being ignored by the government.
“Every day, people in regional Victoria risk their lives and damage to their vehicles due to the poorly maintained country roads, and the government’s current plan of filling in a couple of potholes is just not good enough.
“The minister must listen to my constituents and ensure that major repairs are carried out on the Katamatite-Yarrawonga Rd to make it safer for all road users.”
