At the re-opening on Friday morning, customers got their first look at the small but meaningful changes to the store layout.
The new look has been overseen by new store manager Rachael Macdonald, who started a month ago and has been learning the ropes from previous manager Judy Bond.
Along with other Salvos Store managers from around the region, Mrs Macdonald spent most of last week freshening up the shop.
For the final refit, the store had to be closed on Wednesday and Thursday last week.
Mrs Macdonald said the Salvos Store is the Salvation Army’s main outlet in Deniliquin to help those in need.
As well as selling affordable items and raising money, Mrs Macdonald said they occasionally have food available.
The store recycles as much as they can and what is not sold is redistributed to other stores and poorer countries.
In addition to the work it does at the store, local Salvation Army volunteers also actively support the Red Shield Appeal and run a Christmas appeal.
Last year, these programs raised $16,131 and $969 respectively, which are re-invested in the regional community.
The store team currently has 15 volunteers, but Mrs Macdonald said they’re always looking for more.
“If you have a spare few hours in your week and are interested in volunteering at the Salvos Store you can contact us or visit. We have application forms available,’ Mrs Macdonald said.
The store is open from 9am to 5pm weekdays, and from 9am to 1pm Saturdays.
