Pulling power at Quambatook

The Kubota Australian Tractor Pull championships will return to Quambatook this Easter long-weekend, continuing a tradition that has lasted almost five decades.

The deep thump of high‑powered engines, combined with the smell of diesel and dust, will once again roll across the Mallee as Quambatook comes alive over the Easter long weekend.

From early afternoon on Saturday, April 4, thousands of spectators are expected to attend the 2026 Kubota Australian Tractor Pull championships at the Quambatook Tractor Pull Complex.

The event has become a long‑standing tradition for Quambatook, drawing crowds to the town for nearly five decades.

Quambatook Tractor Pullers Association president Tim Betson said spectators were drawn to the energy and atmosphere of the event.

“Fans love the noise and the smell ... it’s great entertainment,” Mr Betson said.

Widely regarded as one of Australia’s premier tractor pulling meets, Quambatook is home to the country’s first permanent purpose‑built tractor pulling complex.

The event was first held in 1977, and this year marks the 49th edition.

Gates will open at 11am, with competition getting under way at 1pm, starting with vintage tractors showcasing Australia’s farming machinery heritage.

From 3.30pm, the pace will lift as modified tractors and trucks take centre stage, before competition continues under lights and wraps up at around 10pm.

The field will include the return of Quambatook legends Quamby Quaker and its crew, sporting a blown 502 Chev paired with a 4020 John Deere transmission and rear end.

Also making a special first‑time appearance will be Australian Supertruck Tringali Racing.

Spectators will have the opportunity to access the pits during tea breaks, allowing them to get a close‑up view and snap photos with the tractors, trucks, drivers and crews.

Off‑track entertainment will include live music from Deniliquin performer Lachlan Downes, a visit from the Easter Bunny, and a remote‑control tractor pulling demonstration from RC Pullers Australia.

There will also be market stalls, children’s entertainment, food and drink vendors, and a licensed bar on site.

The popular Little Rippers activity area will return this year, featuring rides, dodgem cars and sideshow attractions.

The event is largely run by volunteers and the local community, with money raised injected back into Quambatook and its people and businesses.

EFTPOS will not be available at the event.
