It’s not every day someone gets to help host an iconic TV program.

But that was the case for Cobram Secondary College principal Kimberley Tempest as she and the college’s 2024 student leaders toured the Channel 10 studios in Melbourne and sat in on a broadcast of The Project.
The students were part of the school’s traditional leadership camp in Melbourne from Monday, December 4, to Wednesday, December 6.
The camp allowed the participants to hone their leadership skills while bonding.
Appearing on The Project was a complete surprise, Ms Tempest said.
“We were sitting in the studio audience, and the presenters asked if a teacher would like to have a go at announcing the next segment live,” she said.
“Dianne, the assistant principal, volunteered me. Of course, I had a go.
“All I did was copy how the presenters did it. It was a bit of fun and not hard at all.”
2024 school captain Isabella De Ventis said seeing Ms Tempest on air was exciting.
“Considering we all thought that we would be sitting in the audience and just watching, it was a nice surprise to see her get the opportunity to present a segment of the news live,” she said.
Among other places, the students visited the Savoy Hotel and The Richmond Institute, where they could participated in a class.
The Richmond Institute was Isabella’s favourite place.
“I thought that it was really great to be informed about a possible program that I could join after completing Year 12; that was quite interesting to me,” she said.
“I also enjoyed the training session we completed as a group afterwards.”
Isabella said that the camp was the perfect opportunity for her and her fellow school leaders to gel as a team.
“I really enjoyed the leadership camp. I think that it was a great experience, and it allowed all of us in the leadership group to bond,” she said.
