The pharmacy, located on 28 Punt Rd, Cobram, is moving to a bigger shopfront at 34 Punt Rd on Monday, February 27.
Amcal has had a presence in the town since 1975 and current owners Paul Ukich and Tamara Bate have been faithfully serving residents for many years.
Mr Ukich first began at the pharmacy’s current location in the 1990s and said he had seen the pharmacy grow over the years.
Along with being a place to collect medicine, the pharmacy also helps educate clients on how to use their medical equipment safely and delivers medicines to residents unable to leave home.
During lockdown, the pharmacy’s home delivery service proved invaluable to many residents who were quarantining.
The pharmacy also takes part in the National Diabetes Services Scheme which helps people with diabetes to understand and manage their life by providing access to affordable diabetes support services and products.
The new premises will have dedicated consulting suites so customers may discreetly ask for medical advice.
They will also be able to administer vaccinations.
Mr Ukich said the new shop would be bigger and better.
However, the pharmacy is not merely a place where Cobram residents get their medication or health checks.
The pharmacy has played host to many work experience students and trainee pharmacists making it a place of learning as much as it is a place of healing.
Mr Ukich also believes that the pharmacy should play its part in ensuring a positive community spirit and not merely stay in its traditional role.
To this end, the pharmacy also supports community groups.
“We have sponsored sporting clubs. And try and give back a bit to the community. Mainly football, but also cricket and tennis,” Mr Ukich said.
