With the brigade based in a rural area on Seymour-Tooborac Rd, the information session will highlight the importance of keeping livestock and horses safe over the fire season.
Along with a free barbecue and kids’ activities, the station will host an expert presenter from Echuca, who is set to speak about planning with your pets and livestock in mind.
Brigade community safety co-ordinator Jake Williamson said the information session would provide attendees with important, localised knowledge to aid their fire preparedness.
“We’ve tailored ours to farm owners and rural property owners,” he said.
“People’s pets and horses are often forgotten about in their planning, especially those farmers who have massive amounts of livestock. It’s their livelihood that they need to plan for and protect.”
With the aid of a electronic message board for advertising, provided by Mitchell Shire Council, the brigade is hoping for a large turnout of locals from across the region.
Neighbouring brigade members are also set to be in attendance, along with the ice cream truck that was a huge hit at Seymour’s Get Fire Ready event.
Giveaway bags will also be on offer, and are set to be personalised for those living in more rural areas, with further information on pets and livestock within.
The information session will be held at Hilldene Fire Station, 470 Seymour-Tooborac Rd, on Saturday, October 25 from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
All are welcome to come along, connect and get prepared for the fire season ahead.
