National Walk Safely to School Day has multiple aims.
Not only is it aimed at safety when sharing the roads with motorists, it also encourages an active lifestyle.
“This great initiative encourages primary school children to walk and commute safely to school, whilst also promoting important road safety awareness, better health and wellbeing habits, and safe pedestrian behaviour,” the school said.
The officers spoke with students and their families, and even assisted a few across the school’s dedicated crossing on Butler St.
This year was the 25th annual National Walk Safely to School Day.
The initiative is championed by the Pedestrian Council Australia with support from multiple agencies.
