After seeing a great number of locals aided by the scheme a year on from its introduction in the region, National Disability Insurance Agency communications general manager Jamie Lowe commented on its beaming success.
“The NDIS is empowering 2133 local people in the Goulburn region to achieve their goals and increase their independence,” Ms Lowe said.
“More than 83 000 people have received support across Victoria, including more than 21,000 people who have received supports for the first time.
“According to the latest NDIS quarterly report, the scheme is making a real difference to children living with disability in Victoria with 91 per cent of family and carers of participants aged between 0 to before school age saying the NDIS has improved their child’s development.”
Nationally, more than 300 000 Australians are using NDIS with 114 000 of those having access to the support for the first time.
