The scheme offers eligible residents access to 60 varieties of native seedlings at a subsidised cost of just $1.35 each, supporting landholders in increasing native vegetation across the region and improving biodiversity, soil health, and landscape resilience.
It is open to ratepayers with properties of one hectare or more.
Applications close on Friday, September 12.
Available varieties include red gum, wattle, bottlebrush, melaleuca, eucalyptus, and more.
Seedling allocations are based on property size:
• 1-10 hectares: up to 50 tube seedlings.
• 10-500 hectares: up to 150 tube seedlings.
• More than 500 hectares: up to 300 tube seedlings.
In addition to subsidised seedlings, tree guards are also available to order, with a contribution from the Ricegrowers' Association helping to offset costs for participants.
Edward River Council CEO Jack Bond said the scheme continues to be a practical and impactful way for landholders to contribute to the region’s environmental health.
“This program is a great example of how small actions can lead to long-term benefits,” he said.
“By planting native species, landholders are helping to create healthier ecosystems, support local wildlife, and strengthen the natural resilience of our rural areas.”
Seedlings ordered through the scheme will be available for collection in May or June 2026.
