Committee chairperson Amanda Herezo said the large reserve was open for public use, including markets and club activities.
“The reserve is home to horse facilities, but in the current COVID-19 climate it is a great outdoor space the community can use for any activity,” she said.
A lengthy legal dispute over the reserve is now coming to an end.
Mrs Herezo said the committee finally had the clarity needed to run community events.“We want to try and get the community back using and enjoying this great piece of Crown land,” she said.
State Member for Ovens Valley Tim McCurdy commended the efforts of the committee.“It used to be a community asset . . . and now this committee of management are getting it back together,” he said.
The committee held a car boot sale at the reserve in March which attracted about 50 to 70 people.
“We had 23 stall holders from around the district selling a variety of goods — poultry, homewares and plants,” Ms Herezo said.
“The Scouts sold hot jam donuts, we had a coffee machine and a singer.”
The committee is hoping to hold a Christmas party on Saturday, December 19, if coronavirus restrictions allow.
Casual user fees depending on reserve use will be discussed on application.
