Mitchell Shire Council has released its monthly road update for June.
As part of a commitment to ensuring safe and efficient road networks, council is regularly reviewing and maintaining 700km of sealed roads, 714km of unsealed roads and numerous footpaths and bridges.
A number of works have been completed in Seymour and surrounds, while there are some still yet to begin.
Mitchell Shire road and footpath works
Completed
- Seymour-Pyalong Rd, Pyalong: widening of road shoulder, new line marking and advisory signage at a bend west of Panyule Rd.
- High St, Seymour: investigative works on load capacity of bridges on High St and minor defect repairs.
- Lambing Gully Rd, Seymour: drainage replacement and road gravel re-sheeting.
- Station St, Seymour: inspection and repair of underground service pits.
Ongoing
- Oak St and Wimble St, Seymour: the intersection of Oak St and Wimble St was closed from Wednesday, June 11, to Friday, June 13, for resurfacing works and the installation of speed cushions.
- Hughes Creek Rd, Tarcombe: reconstruction of a bridge to improve safety and eliminate the load limit, allowing the safe passage of agricultural machinery and other heavy vehicles. Expected to be completed end of June.
- Hume Fwy, Tallarook: Transport Victoria is conducting improvements of the Hume Fwy’s northbound lanes between Kennys Lane and Dockerys Rd in Tallarook.
- Inland Rail bridge works, Broadford: Inland Rail is undertaking significant works in Broadford throughout June across sites in Hamilton St, Short St and Marchbanks Rd.
Upcoming
- High St, Seymour: High St, between Crawford St and the Wallis St roundabout, will be resurfaced during the day on Thursday, June 19, and Friday, June 20.
- High St and Wallis St, Seymour: the intersection of High St and Wallis St will be closed overnight on Thursday, June 19, and Sunday, June 22, between 7pm and 5am, for resurfacing works.
Grading works have also taken place over the past month, with Black Mountain Rd, Delatite Rd and Tarcombe Rd in Seymour seeing upgrades as a result.
Throughout May, council repaired 179 potholes across the shire.
